the thing is, and bouie mentioned this earlier, all of these people are genuinely fucking terrible at politics, in addition to being terrible at their jobs
The one that got me was Noem saying of course they hadn't deported any veterans. If she didn't know it had happened - she should have, I did, and I don't have her job - what are the odds the guy was guessing? Why would he even ask if he didn't have an example?

And, yes, again, I know: doesn't care.

Musk is just straight up white nationalist now.

Funny how just the other day Reuters were suggesting Trump's approval had rebounded because of his 'focus on affordability'.
"Trump's approval rating on the economy, per the latest AP-NORC poll, is a grisly 31 percent—the lowest number he’s ever gotten in that category in that poll...His overall approval rating is down “only” six points since March—to an abysmal 36 percent." open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...

I know it's difficult, but there just isn't a shortcut around saying 'sorry, you're wrong and here what the facts are', and in some cases just being quite blunt about the fact the issue is that these guys just have a lot of resentment that they don't have the position they think they 'deserve'.

I know plenty of scholars are working on this, but it’s the hyper-nostalgia for an entirely imagined utopian moment *that they seem to think happened in their own lifetime* that really gets me. I bet these men are younger than me! They’re idealising…what, the early 1990s? Early Blair, even?

Also, virtually nobody in the party (MPs or members) truly believes it apart from a few crackpot Blue Labour types.
Labour’s shift away from “immigration is good but it needs to be managed” to “it is bad” is a gift to essentially everyone they compete with, because it means that they don’t have the right position to be able to attack *anyone*.
I'm sorry, but these attacks are just not going to convince Green-curious voters, because Labour is so visibly out of step with those voters' core values
