Just a dude, a Dad, a library technician.

But mainly the Dad thing.

Huge scandal that Minneapolis has been crawling with terrorists this whole time. They've been living among us undercover as poets and nurses. And would've continued to, had it not been for the work of our bravest child kidnappers

Absolutely true.
But if they mention Herbalife all bets are off.
Old person to youngs: If at a certain point in your life people from long in your past start reaching out to you, like calling and texting and emailing you even though you haven't had anything to do with them for years, ANSWER THEM. It may be their last chance to talk with you. They may know it.

Yeah. Still relevant.
I made this video seven months ago and really wish it weren't still relevant. If anything, I was too kind at the time.

With everything awful & scary going on in the United States & the world, we might momentarily forget that here in Canada, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre STILL REFUSES to apply for the normal security clearance that EVERYONE else in his position has.

It’s reasonable to assume he can’t pass it.

If you rebooted RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK today with the same temporal margins, it’d be set in the 1980s. Neo-Nazi punks would have their faces melted by the opening of a forbidden arcade cabinet at the KB Toys at your local mall. Indiana Jones would wear a Hawaiian shirt and Chuck Taylor sneakers.
We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

My kid was playing Halloween songs on my phone as I drove to school, so I asked her to put on Bloodletting, the coolest Halloween song ever.
Of course this meant I listened to Concrete Blonde on the way to work, and there are worse ways to spend ten minutes.

I pulled an all-nighter and wrote a Theatre History essay on the film True Romance as Senecan revenge tragedy. Got an A.
GenAI is a piker at this stuff.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

As I type on my updated iOS 26 iPhone I think of a guy who came to my last library asking for help with a 1st Gen iPod Touch.
He refused to update it because he liked how it looked, its screen full of pre-Jony Ives icons. and he knew what all the stuff was.
Of course it didn’t work worth a damn.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Tonight I finished Lessons in Magic and Disaster, by @charliejane.bsky.social ,complete with emotions in the break room.
I saw the Possession comparisons, but Possession was a slow burn that took me 3 damned months to read and this is a roller coaster ride through someone’s heart.
Go on the ride.
