Where is our own Trust-Busting #TeddyRoosevelt? The oligarchs will fight ugly, so our hero/heroine will need: a) private wealth; b) public-sector experience; c) a reputation for integrity; d) fire in the belly.

Gov Pritzker and Rep. Goldman check all the boxes. Gov Polis and Gov Newsom check most.
One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.

The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.

But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.

#WSJ has produced a surprising string of unfavorable investigative pieces on Trump. Useful journalism, yes. But do #Murdoch properties ever tweak the powerful without commercial motive? What does Rupert want?
The president and his family have made $4 BILLION on the ventures they've launched just since Trump's reelection.

That's a staggering cash grab. And it's not even close to normal.
The Trump Family Business Empire Is Growing. We Mapped Out 268 Pieces of It.
A second-term boom in crypto and other areas has created billions in new wealth for the first family.

TY, @luxalptraum.com for reminders like these! (This was net new for me.)
Also I suppose that this is when I remind you that I have it on good authority that the only reason why Bari wound up at NYT in the first place is because Bret Stephens made her hiring a requirement for him to come over from WSJ

I’m going to need to see the declination memos from DoJ where they declined to prosecute the Epstein co-conspirators, and I’m gonna need to see them for every single person they declined to prosecute.

Anomaly or not, I'm relieved and grateful.
NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

Names, please, if they're clearly not victims.
The DOJ identified at least 10 co-conspirators who worked with Epstein and Maxwell. It’s obvious to anyone with two eyes that Epstein and Maxwell were engaged in organized crime, yet NO ONE ELSE involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring has faced criminal charges. Why?

Support isn’t about moments.
It’s about consistency.

Do you support Ukraine?

ourshallowstate.bsky.social, what is your take on how #SpeakerMikeJohnson does it? Regulate his neuro chemistry, I mean, to produce that smooth, disingenuous affect, day after day, under what has to be enormous pressure. Mood stabilizers?

Ahh yes, Mr. Dershowitz.
Another Palm Beach Police report. This is the tamest part of this where Epstein, through lawyers, says he is "passionate about massages." from #doj #epstein files www.justice.gov/multimedia/F...

So wonderful to be reminded of the vastness in which my short earthly journey takes place.
Wonderful night to watch stars. There are these new gadgets, Seestar astrophoto systems, that give amateurs a power tool to study the heavens.

The fact that random people on the Internet are outsmarting Trump's DOJ in detecting the removal of Epstein Files shows just how amateurish Pamela Jo Bondi and her D-list team are.

There are competent coverups and sloppy, easily detected coverups. This is the latter.

Very suspicious that today's release of Epstein Files is mostly readacted...

The only three identifiable men are Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew.

Most other men have their faces redacted.

Here is what’s in the DOJ’s Epstein File Release.

Here’s What’s in the DOJ’s Epstein File Release—and What’s Missing
From photos of former president Bill Clinton to images of strange scrapbooks, the Justice Department’s release is curious but far from revelatory.

Thank you to @other95.bsky.social, who is connecting important dots on the #BrownU and #MIT shootings. To my awareness, no one else -- at least publicly - is even asking the questions that *could* connect dots. For example, precedents in the #AmyBishop case.

I do have some faith in an imperfect Mitt #Romney, who voted voted to convict Trump on impeachment charges in both trials.

So I'll take this, too. And any other imperfect gestures towards rationality and fairness, from anyone, anywhere on the political spectrum.
I have no faith in Mitt Romney, but...I'll take this.

Maybe, just maybe, another small leading indicator the edifice is shaking. #MTG, the #James and #Comey rulings, the #AlinaHabba stepdown, the #IndianaSenate rebuke of gerrymander pressure, the aisle-crossing of those four GOP congress members on healthcare.
In a twist, it was Sen. Kennedy (R-LA) who forcefully grilled a Trump nominee today on his preachings about marriage not being "intended" for disabled people, "transgenderism & homosexuality" being "sexual perversions" & wives' obligation to serve their husbands talkingpointsmemo.com/news/kennedy...

The real question is what will be leaked, isn't it? To whom? By whom? How fast? In what volume? With what kind of plausible deniability? To what retaliatory end?
NEW: Jack Smith will make his case to Congress today while navigating a labyrinth of secrecy rules, laws and restrictions — and a room full of Republican lawmakers eager to trip him up and incriminate him.

Jack Smith wants to tell Congress about his Trump investigations. That comes with risks.
The House Judiciary Committee will question the former special counsel behind closed doors.
