It's not just the women and girls we know of. It's all their future work, and everything they could have been, and how we build structures that shelter their abusers. It's how a man's future has always been worth more than my past, present, and future combined.

Many men learned to have a completely messed up relationship with women and their own sexuality and conflate thoughts with actions and women with sex dolls, but none of that is caused by having a high libido or finding most women you meet attractive.

everyone says google is broken, but I just tried to google the lyrics for the song "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls and I learned that Olivia Rodrigo has synesthesia so it seems to be working well enough.

In Nussbaum's Cue the Sun she documents how season 1 of The Apprentice culminated in Trump saying the winner was clear because "no one would believe if the n*gger won"

All forward motion in his public career should have ended there but no one in that room did anything. They're all culpable imo
One of the things making so many men uncomfortable with ✨guilt by association✨ around the Epstein files is the knowledge *they* have about men with whom *they're* associated who hurt women, and about whose behavior they've never, not once, considered doing anything.

I think it is worse to give CBS/Paramount money than it is for new Star Trek to cease production

Star Trek has been an important part of my life as long as I remember

i remember being a kid and being very excited about being an adult and being able to experience cool mature adult things like understanding what Doonesbury was about and now I am an adult and almost all media I experience that is aimed at me sounds like they're talking to a toddler.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

With Great Power Comes Great Smolness of Bean
A fundamental problem with this country is that you have less responsibility, transparency, and duty as you gain more power when it should be the opposite. The Supreme Court gets to be very secretive for no good reason. Cops get a monopoly on violence and have near total immunity when they use it.

When Paul Simon won album of the year in 1976 he said and I quote: "And most of all, I'd like to thank Stevie Wonder, who didn't make an album this year,"
Do we think they know that people other than Stevie Wonder put out music from 1974 thru 1977?

Stevie really should've put out a record in '76, because I'm assume he would've won.

This photo made me understand class in America in a way that I was unable to process before seeing it. The rich enjoy class solidarity on a level that is unimaginable to most people.

February book club post!

This month we’re reading Maya Angelou’s influential book of memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which was published in 1969. The memoir covers the first seventeen or so years of the author’s life, ending around 1945.

As Obergefell is placed on the chopping block, I'm thinking about how Merton said, "If we wait for some people to become agreeable or attractive before we begin to love them, we will never begin."

We can't afford to be satisfied with the populace finding us agreeable. We never could.
