appropos of nothing in particular, and Google is also working on getting better at this: iPhones appear to now be reliably getting about a decade of total security patches.

My iPhone 5S, a model launched in 2014, was still getting new patches in 2023/2024.

accidentally started thinking about what I'd include in an NA/US-centric electric vehicle news web site and unfortunately while my ideas are very good they are also extremely high effort and it would probably require a fairly huge team to do well

One of my favorite things is getting to tell friends who are new to NYC that the subway "stand clear of the closing doors please" voice is a trans woman named Bernie Wagenblast and she's amazing.

Are you ready?

I wanted to make a fun holiday ad for Coca-Cola in the spirit of their old Holidays are Coming commercials.

So I sat down and made this beautiful picture, and it looks really great.

LLM-generating music from a prompt has no appeal to me. The part of the process it bypasses—the part where I realize concepts and make interesting mistakes and elaborate on those concepts by experimenting with form—is the main reason I make music at all. I might as well let AI eat my cake for me

stumbled on some better phrasing for this for my fedi post:

Fifteen years ago, Google could do no wrong and it is WILD how much goodwill they've burned through in that time. The whole industry, really.
LB: it does say something though that mistrust by default is now a MUCH more common position than it was ~10-15 years ago, when "if you're not paying, you're the product" started to float around as a catchphrase, but in practice nobody really thought anything about it

idly as more brands launch ~dedicated offroader EVs and show off offroader EV concepts it occurs to me the window on "put a rough country sticker on a leaf or bolt" is closing.

My new problem is I didn’t drive to Safeway and it’s raining too hard to want to either unload back into my house, go to Safeway or get my laundry and go to the ‘mat

And also too cold to stay in the car
