Saw the trailer for this last weekend and I’m there opening weekend. Looks incredible.

I’d like to see Claire Danes play a lady for whom everything is going great and nothing worries her at all. Maybe she’s not even a lead, just the lead’s friend who lives in comfort, amusement, and delight.

In terms of these “part 2 of 2” movies, it’s a lot closer in quality to ‘Dune Part Two’ than ‘It Chapter Two’. Concurrently, that #WickedForGood might, in any way, come off as “the movie we need right now” is very much an indictment of our stupid, stupid world (right now).

Materialists hit me in a really specific way, as a film made by someone genuinely disturbed by the inhuman, transactional behaviour of many people around her, and how that has destabilized our sense of self-worth and the value we see in others
