I'm an album listener and I just put on Oo-Li by Woodz and it's GORGEOUS so far. Wow. Holy shit, y'all. It feels like I was meant to start listening to this today.

Thursday we're having ham (Bhai's request), I'm bringing dessert (pumpkin mochi cake with whipped cream if you want it), and we're cooking the contents of a farm share box into thanksgivingish dishes.

Good things happened for my family today and I'm so thankful and so tired. My partners are gonna move to this state in the next few months. I haven't really let it be real to me yet, it's just amazing to me that I'm not gonna have to fly 1500 miles to spend time with them.
Please send your lucky thoughts and crosses fingers my family's way the next few days, we are hoping for something good.

I don't even RPF but now I'm looking at pictures of Booga and thinking "oh yeah that's Chan, 100%"
In fairness I am also distracting myself thinking about this.

A family we're friends lost absolutely everything they owned, including their pets, to a fire this weekend. They're looking for help with their expenses until insurance comes through. I know times are tough but sharing their link is the least I can do to try to help. www.gofundme.com/f/support-th...

Dear internet, "Photobook" and 世界に一つだけの花 medley or mashup when? Yes I realize the latter song is in a far lower key so a medley would be better but I'll take whatever. They fit, I was singing one over the other yesterday.

The sibling love I feel from discussing a bovine illness case my sis saw today that is most likely rabies but has a number of other possibilities remaining is really really cool. She loves differential diagnosis and I love hearing about it. She will report it as soon as it's business hours.

I have two things I would really like people to internalize about the fashion industry/garment manufacturing, and they are:

1. Mass manufactured clothes are only ever intended to fit "good enough," and;

2. Everything you wear was made by actual human people.

So, we went through the whole process to apply for financial assistance from the hospital to get this $1,500 forgiven or reduced, and they said no. No appeal, no nothing, just a denial. Even the payment plan options they have given us are outside of our budget. Any help would be so appreciated.

This, yes. I trained SpamAssassin on my spam and known good emails in the late nineties back when I was still reading email in PINE and I would love today's versions of that but calling everything AI now means I can't tell if it's good modeling or hallucinating crap.
like, these differences are subtle--a spam filter is a language model, "tuning" and "training" are differences of emphasis rather than kind--but if google is going to obfuscate rather than educate and be transparent they deserve what they get

y'know, if tech companies weren't so fired up to call every single thing "AI" it would be a lot easier to distinguish "ML spam filter that is well-sandboxed and tuned on your emails" from "giant context and IP-eroding foundation model that makes people paranoid and unhappy"
since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.

My career path lore is really sad in spots but I started working for a reference and instruction librarian when I was a sophomore and a science major in undergrad, I struggled in my major as I fell in love with library work, and she introduced me to some people, and gave me wonderful references.
