I have a new poem out today at @fifthwheelpress.bsky.social called “#latergram” about social media, growing up on the internet, and the expectations of ~*being online*~
Feature: one poem by Christine Salek — fifth wheel press

can’t believe people would use genAI to write emails when what really gives sending emails the juice is spending ten minutes agonizing over word choice, hitting send, and realizing you used “I’d be happy to…” twice in a row anyway

Hi! I wrote a thing about swimming and trans athletes and [*checks notes*] Santana for @defector.com, would mean a lot if you give it a read
What Does A Great Trans Athlete Deserve? | Defector
Once every week or two, I swim molasses-slow laps at the YMCA. I’ve been on something of a fitness journey this year, testing out different forms of exercise to see what sticks—what feels the least to...

wrote letter #300 today and starting to reflect on what it'll be like in 2026 to not be thinking about a different person in depth every day
I’m still doing this btw! and now that we’re somehow in the last third of the year, I’m thinking about how I’m going to write about this experience, the (digital) data I *did* keep and why, etc. 👀 #DHmakes
honestly, #DHmakes, not just for the zine but for my 2025 letter-writing project mentioned!

I’m (hand) writing a letter to a different person every day, mostly not to be sent. some of the only digital data I’m keeping right now is who & how I know them, but we’ll see how that evolves over time.

just had the epiphany that the reason everyone thinks I’m so busy is that I AM so busy, and the reason I don’t see how busy I am is that I don’t write things down anymore because I don’t like seeing all the things I have to do

regular PSA that when an independent literary magazine is “hiring,” it is likely unpaid because no one is paid, not even the people doing the hiring

if you’re looking for a paid literary opportunity, the “we operate at a loss so we can share cool art with the public” crowd is probably not for you 💕

happy #AceWeek, please enjoy my zine “not like that,” a reflection on my ace journey from 2021 (freshly divorced & allowing myself to be myself) to 2024 (when I annotated and published this). it meant a lot to be to be able to write so much about my asexuality even a little coherently!
