to paraphrase Mark Rosewater, it doesn't matter if some people hate it your art, all that matters is that some people love it
There's an important lesson here; draw what YOU like. As an artist you have to cultivate your own tastes - your work is the most valuable when it's life reflected through YOUR lens. Have the courage to be disliked or to have your work disliked - it's okay that you're not for everyone!
man I'm way too easily impacted by the tastes of other people I respect. like 'oh, X friend doesn't like Y thing, I must never draw Y thing again'. trying to fight this mentality.

one thing I find ridiculous is that people claim to find AI so useful for "idea generation", when I and every other remotely creative person I know has more incredible ideas than they can complete in a few lifetimes.

I know that there is just so much going on in every direction, but it does really feel like we've reached a point of class divide where the people making Big Money Decisions are an alien species who can't imagine what the rest of us are thinking at any point.
