Please continue to observe, patrol, and support our immigrant neighbors. We still need the help of our neighbors. We cannot let our guards down as this is far from over.

They've dressed it up differently, but it's same thing, day after day
Woman with legal status taken from her family home in St Paul by ICE, flown to Texas, held for two weeks before being ordered released by a judge. She lost her job. She's afraid to go outside because agents keep coming to her home.

After ICE release St. Paul woman, she says agents keep returning to her home
Thi Dua Vang legally came to the U.S. two years ago. So when ICE showed up, she thought it must have been a mistake.

This is what they consider “de-escalating."

They don’t know the resiliency of Ward 9 neighbors though. We aren’t stopping until the whole dam system is abolished.

Last night I put together an email to friends/family for a fundraiser to support some families' rents, expecting it would take days to raise.

3 min after pressing send, 20% was raised.

By this morning 80%.

In Minneapolis, we are under ICE occupation & another community member was shot last night. As elected leaders we must make sure our immigrant neighbors can stay inside & be safe.

We passed a unanimous resolution to call on Gov. Walz to do an eviction moratorium.

For every ICE arrest that draws a crowd with cameras and whistles, there are an untold number happening quietly when no one is watching.

During these horrific and chilling times, one of the things that gives me hope is knowing my elected officials are standing up for the community and against occupying forces. @ward8.minneapolismn.gov is a leader among them and always seeks out & listens to community.
Ward 8 neighbors, my team and I will be holding office hours this Friday, 1/16 from 10:30-12pm at Turtle Bread Company, 4762 Chicago Ave. Please join to meet us, ask any questions you may have, and to talk about what you would like to see from our office during this time.

I get daily calls from neighbors who speak Spanish who want me to let you all know they are grateful for those looking out and patrolling. Our community is thankful.

One of the most despicable aspects of this is the permanent trauma to families/communities. Yesterday a family I help w/ school transport told me their kid was staying home crying and panicking. Tons of community resolve is required now & even more will be required to repair/heal in years to come.

ICE just indiscriminately stopped a citizen at a bus stop in front of the co-op. If this is how they treat the President of the Minneapolis City Council who is legally observing, just think of what they’re doing to everyone else in our City.

Amid these dark times it’s been so uplifting to see neighbors uniting across the Twin Cities to support and protect each other.

We’re building muscles that we’re going to need to keep working for the next 3+ years (I fear).
