I can't recall a time in my life when the Senate's Democratic leader was so embarrassing and pathetic.

TOMORROW (Tuesday) 9AM in K-12 subcommittee — Rep McKenzie & Sen. @jeffyarbro.bsky.social have a bill to force Tennessee to track how many kids using @GovBillLee’s vouchers are already in private schools

Q: Why wouldn’t they track that?
A: because it’s most of the kids, and they know it.

This is a really important story, and one that explains the place of the Hmong community in the Twin Cities and why this entire occupation is really just ethnic cleansing (my words). Also, props to Marisa for doing the work to get this story right when so many out-of-town journalists have failed.
New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:

I’ve always felt this way, but this last week, watching the federal government invade my city, watching my neighbors resist it, watching congressional Dems essentially pretend it’s not happening - I have never so keenly felt that Democrats in Congress are profoundly useless and irrelevant
All I want to do is fight this insanity, there are so many people like me, and it feels like most of the actual elected leaders who are supposed to be channeling this desire to resist are sitting on my head scolding me. PUT US IN THE GAME

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

MLK was only 39 when he was killed. Growing up, I thought that was old. But I’m 43 now and I’m stunned by the burden he shouldered at such a young age. I’m also a lot more aware of how hard it is, at any age, to carry the hopes and dreams of an oppressed people on your shoulders, as so many do.

Police and military forces acting in self-defense use the minimum force necessary for protection. They don't shoot someone who isn't a threat, block them from getting medical attention, call them a b*tch, and let them die.

everyone (justifiably) yells at Chuck for talking about the economy while ignoring The Horrors but even taking this at face value this is still stupid because the solution to a lot of this is “tax the shit out of the rich” and Chuck is never going to say that
NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.
Zero Chucks Left to Give

If “democracy dies in darkness” one might ask why The Washington Post is recycling second-rate Arctic analysis circa 2009 to rationalize Donald Trump’s unhinged fantasy of conquering Greenland.
The Arctic is warming around four times faster than the rest of the globe.

The changing landscape created a region ripe for opportunity factors that may play a role in President Trump’s sudden quest to obtain Greenland.
Melting ice may raise Greenland’s value. Trump’s fight may be just the start.
Trump has said he wants the territory because of its strategic location. Maps show how a melting Arctic is affecting geopolitics.
