I think we can conclude if ReformUK ever form a United Kingdom Government then its the end for our National Audit Office (DoGE that has been operating 40+ years) and Office of Budget Responsibility.

My health insurance premiums will more than double in January. I pay a little less than $500/month for my current silver plan.

I just reapplied and my new premium will be $1062/month.

And don’t forget: I still have a co-pay for every visit and pay for prescriptions.

UK budget freeze on income tax thresholds

Over the next 5 yrs, 780,000 more people, the poorest, will pay income tax for the first time.

Someone earning £50,000 will pay £9,512 in tax, an increase of £1,247 because thresholds are frozen.

Can't grow economy by hitting low/middle income earners.
The government’s budget is simply managing decline
The budget does little to improve living standards or facilitate sustained economic growth

So apparently openly spreading anti-Muslim hate is absolutely fine now

I think one can apply "they'll probably drop it due to election pressure" or to anything potentially contentious/unpopular in these documents that happens in 2027 or later (which is a lot of things).

That or "there will be new leadership by then who will drop it to make friends"
The big changes to UK pensions will come in April 2029, just before the next election? (Or just after it!)

So either a massive incentive for everyone who can to ramp up their pensions in the intervening years or (cynical brain) some sort of thing they can cancel if the economy picks up?

The die is cast & #UKBudget25 is done. However, Reeves assertion 'ordinary people will have to pay 'a little bit more' is a bit rich of her. A little bit more can work out a lot more for many folk, especially those on the edge of Income Tax Allowances.

Pre going right wing mad The Telegraph used to do good investigative journalism. It was the paper to expose the MP expenses scandal. The merger with the Mail might bring back that serous journalism, leaving the Mail to be the Daily Fartage for those who can now read more than The Sun.
