As my own little intervention into the predistribution vs. redistribution discourse, I sanity checked one recent estimate of how much taxes and transfers matter for reducing income inequality. And I found they matter far more than folks have been saying.

Today we are launching what we hope will be a transformative fundraising push.

We are determined to increase our reach so we can compete with voices who are less than fully committed to, or who outright oppose, liberal values.

Help us do it: www.gofundme.com/f/the-libera...

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

For contrast, one of my favorite sentences from Catherine Drinker Bowen’s Miracle at Philadelphia: “A single executive for the national government conjured up visions from the past — royal governors who could not be restrained, a crown, ermine, a scepter!”
a nice reminder of one of the more absurd elements of trump v. u.s., which is roberts’ apparent belief that the constitution was written to remove limits on executive power prospect.org/2025/11/21/r...

It’s mildly interesting to see Pareto arguably praised/called for what economists would call natural experiments today: “the only thing we can do is to see whether we can find in a natural state in space and time those experiments which cannot be performed artificially.”

In Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 162 years ago today, President Lincoln gave one of the most famous speeches in American history, extolling the sacrifices of the men who died in the battle there. There are five known manuscript copies of the Gettysburg Address. The Library of Congress has two of those.

I rather enjoyed writing my 33rd and almost certainly final article for The Crimson White last week, now as a guest columnist and UA alum.

TL;DR: If UA’s administration was forced to help workers, it shouldn’t make parking free. It needs to pay them more.

In the leaked Project 2025 responses published by @ddosecrets.com, Burra's name is tied to a response saying the fascist text Bronze Age Mindset "shaped my view in that it perfectly describes the enemies of America and the condition America currently finds itself in."

So this is hardly surprising.
I can confirm TheWrap's reporting that Vish Burra, who sparked backlash over the weekend with his wildly antisemitic tweets, has been fired by One America News as Matt Gaetz's producer and booker.

It makes no sense to analyze the proposals in the abstract, and ignore the specific political moment this vote is coming at. And it makes no sense to say you want more affordable housing, but oppose any changes to land use rules that currently make it hard to build any kind of new housing anywhere.
