I had an eye surgery for a lazy eye a few days after I got smacked in the face by a softball during practice. When I went to my post surgery checkup, my doctor physically recoiled when he saw my face and then remembered the bruise was already there before the surgery.

One of the few joys of being American is when anyone outside of the United States truly learns how much we pay for healthcare, because at least their horrified reactions include empathy that we never get from the healthcare industry.
I’ve always just kind of assumed private healthcare in the US costs roughly a similar amount to private health insurance here.
