My colleague Sharon Bernstein breaks an incredible story: The federal government shutdown sabotaged the work of law enforcement and prosecutors in at least eight cases in Sacramento. Wow! How could this happen?

Federal defendants in Sacramento walked free. The reason: No paid lawyers
The U.S. government failed to pay defense lawyers for months, leading Sacramento federal judges to dismiss or delay cases.

You might wonder why Imran Ahmed and the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) suddenly became targets of the U.S. government. The honest answer is that their research hit where it hurt.

This was done at the direction of Pam Bondi. The US government is now dictating what apps you can have on your phone.

The underlying threat here is if Apple didn't comply, they'd slap billions in tariffs on Apple products.
