My politics are rapidly collapsing towards “we will make them will pay for this”
They were working on an mRNA application for glioblastoma when Elon/RFK laid wreck to everything.

[My father died of glioblastoma.]
This hit me like a gut punch, because I lost a good friend to glioblastoma. I wish Jason Collins a speedy & full recovery, knowing that Stage 4 Glioblastoma has always been terminal.

Hoping for a cure.

Fuck cancer!

People responding that moderates can’t go viral because no one’s excited about moderate policy, but if you had a moderate who legitimately came off as an authentic Trump-hating knife fighter they might have a chance. What’s *really* never going to go viral is the classic focus-grouped Troop Lawyer
NEW: Democrats know they need moderates to win tough states. They also know their moderates can’t go viral to save their lives.

10 Dec 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- Women's #1 in tennis Aryna Sabalenka comes out against trans women: "they still have a huge advantage over the women and I think it’s not fair on women to face basically biological men.” She is to play an older men's pro in Dec 28 Battle of the Sexes.

Honestly perfect that an anti-human technology rammed down society’s throat by a literal death cult creates an ad that encourages you ditch your friends and family for Christmas and hide out in a chain restaurant instead
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Reminder here that a sufficiently motivated Congress could crush the executive in one fist and the judiciary in the other. The other two branches are out of control because the paramount branch, the people’s branch, has totally abrogated its responsibilities
this is why i keep saying that the unitarians have embraced a vision of the plebiscitary president who acts as the sovereign embodiment of the people. it is the only way this notion of “accountability” makes sense.

Jesus wept
There’s a sentence on page 2 that is longer than Bluesky’s character limit.

And the sole knowledge that sentence conveys is “Olivia was born on January 6th.”

I was a dipshit libertarian in college but it was rooted in actual principles besides “I should be able to smoke all the weed I want” (that’s true but not relevant), once I encountered the actual world I stopped being one
It’s always interesting to me that the most public libertarians who seem to sincerely value those principles end up renouncing tjem, in time. Same thing happened to Neil Peart, who went from a hardcore Randian to, in his own words “a bleeding heart libertarian.”
Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

Why do they all look like characters in a David Cronenberg movie
The quality of the wax exhibits at Madame Tussaud’s is greatly diminished

I agree with this guy but I don’t think he’d like who I have in mind for it
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

Look he’s better than Doug Mastriano would have been but that is a very low bar to clear. He’s a replacement level suit who got gifted an absolute freak show opponent in a midterm where Dems overperformed and he can’t even get the fucking trains working around here
Josh Shapiro believes he is uniquely suited to win over Trump voters—but he’ll need to overcome distrust among some in his own party first, Tim Alberta reports: theatln.tc/mR9AHSG4

Party in a bottle
'Tis the season!

“One Night Cough Syrup” from the 1930s, which contained cannabis, morphine, chloroform, and alcohol! In 1934, the FDA ruled that the claims of the cough syrup's therapeutic properties were misleading, and remaining stock was destroyed.

The one tiny silver lining to the grotesque, compulsive cruelty of the right towards trans people is that it instantly illustrates the actual stakes in a way that “just asking questions” newspaper columnists can’t obfuscate
You see this in the US I think; the effort by reactionary Christian freaks and their ostensibly centrist elite media allies to turn nice American liberals into transphobes seems to be largely failing

I grew up in a subdivision built in the 1950s. It was centered on an elementary school, had a Little League complex, two or three playgrounds with basketball courts, a volunteer fire department, a rec center, etc. It didn’t fully work but they really were trying to build a neighborhood
The suburbs as we know them came out of fairly benign, even utopian, theories of urban planning. The isolation and atomization was an emergent thing that hadn’t been anticipated. By now though I think it’s seen as a feature by many (evil) policy makers

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

"a real hater hates attention seekers by ignoring them" wise words from one hater elder.

"hate reading is for homework dorks" said another senior hater on condition of anonymity as this statement was a compound diss targeting other council members

I’ve found stimulants don’t really agree with me so now I only take my ADHD meds when I’m in a get it done or get fired kind of situation, but one unexpected advantage of having a formal diagnosis is that it short-circuits the cycle of self-recrimination when my brain stops cooperating with me

Very hung over but I can’t wake and bake because I drunkenly promised my friend I’d write 1000 words on the industrial accident noir story today. At least I’m in the same head space my viewpoint character is in for like 75% of the book lol
