I will hand it to AI on exactly one thing which is that a low vision guest at our Thanksgiving has an app that basically provides alt text for the surroundings and it’s QUITE good. I hate uncanny slop made of regurgitated creative work but I love accessibility

Yup. Damnatio memoriae.
It’s low on the priority list when the Dems retake the White House but every change the orange pedophile has made need to be undone and changed back. Tear down the ballroom, rip up the concrete covering the rose garden. Rebuild the east wing and apparently rebuild the memorial reflecting pool too

There’s a reason Caesar was forbidden to cross the Rubicon and return to Rome with his army. It’s what separates a relatively free society from a fascist one.

No. It's donors. It's still obscene but it's not state money. What it does do, though, is reflect a higher ed environment in which university admins will ask donors for $54 million to pay off a coach but they'll never ask those same donors to fund the English or history or sociology departments
Are the people of Louisiana - one of the poorest and worst performing states in the nation on every metric - going to be paying him $54 million?

It’s not the worst world when ppl have to take Roman history courses (taught by serious people). The assumption that Syrians were poor is…v stupid.
The only problems with the theory that southern Italy is poor because of mass migration from Syria in Roman times are that Roman southern Italy was rich, Roman Syria was rich, and there was no mass migration from one to the other. Otherwise, great theory

"But the couples and their lawyers said they had followed the required steps: They had submitted extensive paperwork and paid fees. The foreign spouses had been fingerprinted and passed medical exams. None had criminal records. None had entered the country illegally."
I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

And they spend a lot of money on hotels, food, souvenirs, etc.

This is unbelievably dumb, it will destroy entire tourist towns

I’m looking for people who might have an office or apartment on the parade route. Somewhere where I could come and take pictures and watch without wading through the people on the street. I know, I am asking for a miracle…

I once taught a whole lesson on the narratives of deservedness in the very strange concept of “stealing” books from something conspicuously branded as a “free” little library. The students struggled with it. A lot of internalized beliefs about poverty and worth. But I think it was a good lesson.
If you are concerned about people swiping books from your little free library and reselling those books, I ask you to go to your local used bookstore and sell a book

Okay?

Understand?

Alright, next question
