We sent a letter to the National Women’s Soccer League expressing serious concern about their decision to reject the Washington Spirit’s contract agreement with Trinity Rodman.
I cannot stress enough how embarrassing this should be for the league.
It is critical that collective bargaining agreements be honored in accordance with federal labor laws—especially at a time of tremendous growth for women’s sports.
All women—including women athletes—deserve fair pay and to be treated well at work.

I don't understand how any of this is easier than just raising the damn cap, which the commissioner gets to do at her discretion. If teams don't want to spend to the cap, current, or future, maybe they need to reevaluate being a team in this league.

It's perplexing that Aerial Chavarin hasn't been called up to the USWNT and that it isn't even talked about. 36 goals for Cruz Azul in 36 games. It feels like the same disregard for Liga MX Femenil that kept Mia Fishel out of the USWNT is at work here. At least call Aerial to a training Camp. My God

berman keeps using that dumb line that the reason an 8 seed is facing a 2 seed in the championship is the salary cap, and it is driving me crazy. i would argue that a far more accurate reason is because the league sucks at protecting players like banda and chawinga on and off the pitch.

You can not have a salary cap sooooo low you can not pay veteran and young players legitimate salaries. That is Not sustainable to keep players stateside let alone make a space for veteran players to play long term. No one is trying to watch daycare figure it out without vets you need balance.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having representatives from each team who are good at schmoozing sponsors and media partners, for the purpose of securing more sponsorship and exposure. That's something NWSL needs. But framing it as "shaping the game and the culture" is absurd.
