Manchester City Women are once again in transition. New coach, new hope, same questions. Can they finally break a cycle of familiar challenges? In this piece I share my take on why change is so hard within City’s fixed football identity.
Manchester City Women: Can change finally break the cycle?
Years of potential, trophies just out of reach, and managerial shuffles—Manchester City Women continue to face familiar challenges.

I would like to see commitment to the team from a foreign-born player once that player has chosen to represent us. Using foreign-born players always stirs some debate among a home country's fans, and situations that evolve in this way stir the pot even more.

It was a friendly game so she wasn't cap-tied, which allows her to make the switch.

Not sure how I feel about this.

Taylor Hinds made her senior debut for Jamaica in 2024. Now she'll rep England in upcoming friendlies.

Hinds: "I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for Jamaica – they’ve been so understanding and genuinely want the best for me, which means a lot."

It’s also Black History Month in Ireland, so why not post a photo of Athlone Town’s Jamaican captain, Izzy Groves, leading her team in celebration as she lifted the Irish Women’s Premier Division trophy last Saturday — and another of her sharing a quiet moment with said trophy afterwards.

It’s Black History Month in the UK, so here’s an iconic photo of Bunny Shaw giving the Black Power salute in February, after scoring against Liverpool. It was her first match back for Manchester City following online racial abuse she received after a game against Arsenal.

I've asked that question myself, too. If the USL Division 1 does end up competing will they enter into playoffs with the NWSL for berths, or will they be assigned berths? I imagine NWSL might argue they are a higher quality league than the USL, and that the USL should compete for their berths.

OL Lyonnes was ballin' out there. A team of physically strong players who know how to roll the ball around. Dominant.

We are seeing a renewed Bunny Shaw. It's not just her game after coming back from injury. The passion she showed on the pitch for Manchester City against Arsenal was extraordinary. Her work rate was exemplary. She led the charge with her performances, her attitude, and her fervour. Goosebumps.

Corinne Diacre, who was sacked as France women’s national team manager in 2023 due to an “irreversible” rift with her players, has taken charge of Les Marseillaises. The recently promoted Première Ligue club—formerly Olympique de Marseille Féminin—is the current home of Jamaican forward Jody Brown.

Take a bow, Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw. What a performance for Manchester City today, scoring a goal and helping to set up the other two for a hard-fought win over Arsenal. She was as awesome in defence as she was in attack, always running back to help, and making key clearances at the back. Brilliant.

Also need to improve a few little things—a bad touch here, unforced misplaced pass there. If they could tighten up those things a bit, the difference could be a goal or two in their favour.

I've referred to IDV many times in the past as the greatest little team in the world for punching above their weight in Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, and for producing and selling great players through their academy, like Moisés Caicedo. Look forward to seeing what Dragonas is all about.

Thanks for this. I've been following Independiente Del Valle's men's team for a few years now and just recently decided to follow their women's team Dragonas but the domestic season just ended. But I see they're in the Libertadores and just tied with Corinthians today. Great result. I'll start here.

George Mason University is back in action tonight. Defender Zoë Vidaurre is going into this match on the back of scoring a goal in each of her last three consecutive games, as well as registering an assist. She's one of several Jamaican women performing well in US college soccer right now.
