Imagine this man trying to sell you $1,000+ for tickets to a show you can watch for free at home.

FWIW I also got this message—was told press tickets were primarily for outlets on the jury (to be 100% clear, this was before my story this week).

I'll still be in LA this year! I'll be around the JW Marriott area before, during, and after the show if anyone wants to talk shop.
I asked about Game Awards press tickets in October. Got an email yesterday encouraging me to buy my own, as there were no spares.

Game Awards: We're inviting less press and opening up seats to the public so that we (probably) can have a more engaged, excited audience for the camera and make more money

What the Game Awards thinks the public can afford:

The biggest real question I have about GTA 6 at this point is whether systems will have kept up with modern gaming trends or if they're stuck in the 2016 open-world space they helped create.

If development goes on so long you have to make those adjustments, right?

I know it's just me being annoying, but watch and see who gives credit to the journalists *actually* covering a story and who just writes something — with no sourcing or credit — for engagement. And remember that! Journalism costs money and the people who actually cover things need your support.

We should *spread* his message far and wide. I know it sounds *cheesy* but we should form a *club*. Just *lettuce* do this, please.
We should raise a toast to Sean Dunn... and by toast I mean a piece of bread
🚨🚨🚨 The jury has reached a verdict. Sean Dunn, aka the DC Sandwich Guy, has been found NOT GUILTY of assault.

Feels like another great time to remind people that when journalists do great work, it's in spite of giant media conglomerates like Conde Nast not because of them
New: Conde Nast fired four employees who were among a group that confronted the company's head of human resources on Wednesday over the decision to fold Teen Vogue into Vogue/recent cuts. Employees who were fired included journalists from the New Yorker, Wired, and Bon Appétit.

Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc

here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”
