Giants needed a 40-man spot for Harrison Bader and they were a little out of balance on the pitching side. There's a lot to like about Teng, who has posted good strikeout rates and impressed in flashes. Maybe Astros can refine his six-pitch mix and help him be more consistent.
Sources: the Astros and Giants are nearing a trade that would send right-hander Kai-Wei Teng to Houston in exchange for catching prospect Jancel Villareal. Teng is an optionable swingman who can pitch out of the rotation or within a bullpen that could use more right-handed depth
