As someone who initially trained as a teacher, and is well aware of how few people from my course are teachers, I would suggest that the issue is more about retention than recruitment

While I think most literate people can be insightful and articulate in text form, if given enough time to collect their thoughts, it is a rare talent to be able to do that verbally, in real time, while responding to interruptions, hostile jibes or pointed questions and STILL get your point across.

I think it is important to know WI and Girl Guides have not voluntarily moved into excluding trans girls and women they have been pushed into by bigot zealots and the law being an ass
