'In a July 2025 article from The Palestine Chronicle, Dr. Hussam’s wife told Al Jazeera that she is pleading for urgent international action. “He could have joined me in Kazakhstan,” she said, referring to her country of origin, “but he told me he couldn’t abandon his patients or his colleagues.'

this is, ultimately, my entire position on covid

things that were true at the start of the pandemic *never stopped being true*; we've just been under increasingly heavy social and economic pressure to forget/ignore them

doing so is a gamble for everyone, we just don't all have the same odds
Asymptomatic & presymptomatic COVID transmission existed in 2020 and still exists in 2025

#LongCOVID existed in 2020 (before the vaccine roll out) & it still exists in 2025

Disabled / #immunocompromised / chronically ill people 💀ed from COVID in 2020 and we’re still 💀ing from COVID in 2025

They deliberately chose to let a virus that causes disabilities loose… and now they are looking to curb spending on disabilities…

and hospitals still aren’t “ready”… aerosol-borne viruses are running through the corridors as free as birds…

The UCP in Alberta have quietly announced a ban on covid vaccination for most kids under 12, please report on this and do anything you can to stop it.

They have revised to a two phase rollout, neither of which make kids without severe medical eligible for vaccination.

PEPFAR has been one of the greatest humanitarian successes of the last century. It's saved over 20 million lives.

Untreated HIV/AIDS kills many young people in the prime of their lives but it also kills 50% of infants and toddlers perinatally infected before their 3rd birthdays.

We can't go back.

A Johns Hopkins study found SARS-CoV-2 may reprogram neutrophils—the body’s most common white blood cells—disabling their pathogen-fighting role. Instead, they suppress other immune cells, weakening the immune response and potentially worsening COVID-19 outcomes.

Why does “learning to live with covid” mean accepting repeat infections as inevitable?

Why does it mean throwing the vulnerable to the wayside, unsafe healthcare & mass disability?

That’s not “living with it”. That’s giving up

We need to adapt. Clean air, paid time off, masks in healthcare.
