HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE X WINTER PEOPLE

When a veteran with PTSD moves into a house that goes bump in the night, it's hard to tell the difference between being tormented by her past or haunted by something even darker. And her family is caught in the middle.

They've gone back to celebrating the winter solstice, "Longest Night", and in the City of Glass's Glow it's celebrated with a feast/party with music and food.

Through their service and sacrifice, Maine’s veterans haven’t just made our state great. They’ve helped shape our country.

During the Civil War, Maine sent a higher % of its population to fight than any other Union state. Mainers have served with distinction in every major conflict since. (1/3)

Not always on the same side (I have an ancestor who fought for the British in the Revolution and my maternal grandmother's people fought her husband's people in the Civil War), but there's a long tradition of military service in my family, at least one per generation. I was the last one. 1/2

Behold Britta, the most ridiculous dog in the world. (Most of the time she's curled up in the bed rather than overflowing off it. Also we do have bigger beds)

Writers, do you ever fear running out of story ideas? This is one fear I don’t have #writingq #WritingCommunity

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to
"help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.

Update on the door: we will definitely not be able to lift it.
Fortunately, my FIL has a tractor.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have a trailer.
Fortunately, they only live 5 miles away.
Unfortunately, my husband can't drive a tractor.
Fortunately, I can.

Going to be a fun day.

I had my hair colored before my trip and was very disappointed in the results, so I decided to try home color for the first time.

How it's going:

The spring on my garage door broke. Without the spring, the door won't open.

Guess what's now trapped inside the garage...

Today's hike was 5.46 miles (8.75 km). Doing way more than that in Scotland so we need to get way more of those longer hikes in.

Realizing this morning that the majority of my sewing projects have been related to the fact that the folks making horseback riding clothes and boots don't seem to understand that riders come in all sizes.

I didn't get to eat Gouda cheese for the first time until I was in my 30s, and that's a significant part of my villain origin story.

Writing Tip:
History is one of the best sources for writing inspiration. There are some pretty unbelievable things that have happened throughout human history that most people would think only ever occur in fiction. A little historical research can go a long way!

Very excited for my signing at the Berwick Public Library on Thursday, November 13! I'll be reading an exerpt from Straw Girl, answering questions, and sharing some of the evidence from the paranormal investigations.

It should be a good time!

I got one of these. 😞
We’re firmly entering “passing on stuff at the end of the year that’s been in inboxes for months” season and friends, don’t let it get you down.

It’s almost never a reflection of you, but of the exhaustive workload folks are juggling.

Keep going.
