I worked for someone like this and it soothed my soul.
Watching Columbo for the first time and as someone with a working class chip on his shoulder, seeing all these smug, monied elitists sneeringly underestimating and then being utterly destroyed by a shabby, brilliant little guy is absolutely cathartic.

On the tube in London and on my way to an important event, I was in my head about it and fussing with my dress. A young woman came by before she got off at her stop. She said “you don’t need to feel anxious, you look really fantastic.”

Young people ❤️
One day when I was on the corner waiting for my son’s preschool bus to drop him off, a teenage girl walking home (the high school and the preschool got out at the same time) waved at me and said “I love your ENTIRE look EVERY DAY!”
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

I keep thinking that if we do this right, dignity will be the word that defines the next decade. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

New Paper: Presidential Control of the Civil Service.

Conventional wisdom holds that the civil service sits safely beyond the president's reach. Does it? (1) Not nearly as much as legal scholars think. (2) That's a problem for the execution of the law. 1/12

Idk if I am fully up to this assignment, but I do have a working draft called haterade.doc so there’s that.
This is the type of hater energy that will fuel us in the years ahead.

I beg of my fellow attorneys, trust yourselves. You’re trained to do legal research. You shouldn’t be using AI summaries but if you do, and get a case summary that sounds suspiciously on point and not only sounds like the exact question you asked the LLM, but is the answer you want, double check!

Me on DOJ’s behavior: “it’s malevolence *exacerbated* by incompetence. That’s problematic enough for the government’s credibility before federal district judges. But at some point soon, one suspects that the Supreme Court itself may well have to grapple with its consequences—or risk being duped.”
194. Another Bad Week for the Presumption of Regularity
Three different flashpoints highlight how much the Trump administration has done, in such short order, to undermine its own litigation efforts and to damage—perhaps irreparably—DOJ's credibility.

Unanimous consent having a big, wild time lately!
! Chuck @schumer.senate.gov asks unanimous consent that the Senate immediately read and pass the bill to release the Epstein files, un-amended, "as soon as it comes over from the House." No objections. Motion succeeds. Bill is deemed to the Senate unanimously, will go to Trump to become law.
