Lol congratulations to whoever briefed that the chancellor was going to axe Cycle to Work, then didn't. Whatever was going on behind the scenes, you've just done wonders for London's bike shops pre-Christmas.
If my group chats are anything to go by, Treasury briefing "we're going to end the cycle to work tax break that enables people to buy a large family-sized e-bike" has done more than any other advertising campaign to boost the uptake of family-sized e-bikes. Sales must be through the roof this week.

In newly leaked audio, Peter Thiel admits he urged JD Vance to ignore Pope Leo XIV on moral questions — including the ethical development of AI.

He goes even further, branding Leo “the woke American pope” and suggesting he’s a tool of the Antichrist.

My Budget Day opinion:

Budget Day should be abolished. Performative nonsense that (by accident) leans into 'politics as entertainment'.

Measures should instead be announced when they are individually ready to be announced – at any time in the parliamentary calendar.

🔥 Rachel Reeves says there’s a “hole” in the public finances.

A new decade-long Brexit study quantifies it:

A 6–8% hit to GDP

That's £180bn-£240bn a year

It means less tax revenue and so less money for everything.

Brexit made Britain MUCH poorer.

Nearly ten years on, the first full assessment of Brexit confirms what millions warned: Britain made itself poorer

One thing with librarians is that they’re acutely aware of *who uses libraries* - many of us might go though our whole adult lives without setting foot in a library, but for people who are a little lost and need somewhere to be, they’re a lifeline.
Sometimes I think it’s going to be the librarians who will save us all.

Utterly surreal that a key part of the pre Budget narrative from the government hasn’t been ‘Russian planes keep buzzing the Essex coast, US support for NATO is looking shaky, and thanks to the Tories our army fits in Old Trafford - that’s why we need to raise taxes’.

Not everything is political strategy. The truth matters for it's own sake.
this is going to backfire, the way putting Trump on trial for campaign finance backfired. In both cases, the target claims a witchhunt, and his base believes that claim.
I'm sure the stories are true, but Farage will just continue repeating "I was a teenager".
