I'm free for work again. If you need a writer or narrative designer, please check my portfolio to see if I'd fit. I've worked across many genres - from grim fantasy RTS to sci-fi action adventure to cutesy roguelike. I am basically a one-size-fits-all pair of socks, but for words.

In one level of beat 'em up Slave Zero X there is a golden skull behind a immovable door, placed there to commemorate the death of Queen Elizabeth II. It is labelled "lizzie's dead".

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

At 16 I wrote a letter to Official Playstation Magazine explaining why the next GTA should be set in Northern Ireland. They published a five-word acknowledgment of the idea in a tiny box-out. I was not satisfied.

Alright! Let's actually talk about this waterfall thing. It is an amazing showcase of many things that I adore from late 90s/early 2000s graphics.
I am replicating this in Blender through mere observation, so some things might not be fully accurate to the mind-boggling effects of the PS1.

1. Little Lion from Skin Deep - a ruthless mob boss who secretly cares for you.
2. Owl from Carimara - horrible flesheater and not an owl at all.
3. Everyone you meet in Psycho Patrol R - what the fuck but in a good way.
4. Hazel from South of Midnight - just a decent, funny person

One of the few enlightening posts to come out of the "nag line" discourse (aside from the term "nag line" itself which i do think is kinda funny)
New article: one thing from every inkle game that we failed to explain clearly enough, and how often we've been made to regret it.
You can’t underestimate everyone
Here is a quick list of features in inkle games which we failed to tutorialise or remind players of enough. The data is empirically backed…

But lots of genre names are dumb.
* "Survival" (don't you survive in most games?)
* "Roguelike" (is Balatro really "like" a 1980s dungeon crawler?)
* "Hack n Slash" (what?)
All taxonomy is folly, yes, but you have to call your game something based on traits. And Marathon? That's an extractoshoots!

Also Kane in Alien is continually depicted as being too curious and eager for his own good. That's why he looks at the egg. Sometimes characters aren't acting stupidly, you just haven't been paying attention and think everyone should act like *you* would.
“WHY WOULD ANYONE LOOK INSIDE AN ALIEN EGG??” this is why:

Kotaku's deals headlines are unhinged. Can you say something is "going for pennies!" when it costs [checks price] 4000 pennies?

Europa Universalis 5 review
Europa Universalis 5 is a deep, intricate historical simulation that will overwhelm you with menus as much as it will compel you through centuries of history.
