If you can, I recommend watching Steven Guilbeault on Tout Le Monde En Parle.

I really identify with the feeling of “this far, but no further” when it comes to the politics of emission reduction. I have felt the same way many times.

#Montreal was rated #1 bicycle city in North America this year.

But the party that won the municipal election campaigned on auditing and removing bike lanes.

They’ve already started in my borough, #Outremont.

So we made our own bike lane this morning. We need to keep our kids active—and safe.

Born in 1931, he was one of the greatest NHL players in history. A 13-time All-Star, he won the Art Ross, two Harts and the Conn Smythe. As a player he won 10 Stanley Cups and added seven more as an executive.

Went for a 30 minute walk.

1. Nearly hit by a car running a stop sign.
2. Nearly hit by a car running a red light (but got to see the flash of a red light camera. Small victories)
3. Nearly hit by a car turning on a red without stopping…8 seconds after incident #2.

1) Criticize the @ABDanielleSmith
2) Propose better policies

UCP convention crowd: LOUD BOOS
Danielle Smith tried to sell her federal-Alberta energy deal to the UCP convention crowd: tepid applause.
She told them that this proved Canada can work well for Alberta’s interests: loud boos.

This ain’t a base that wants Smith to work with a Liberal PM on a better industrial carbon tax.

Another night to sleep on this and I'm solidifying this take

There is a reason industry/govt sees a bit win in trading the regulations that would have forced real emissions reductions (oil and gas cap and CER) for vauge future carbon pricing promises that some are claiming will achieve the same 1/
After some time for reflection I think this is one of the biggest open questions that has a big impact on how much climate action we will see in Canada -
unless I'm reading this wrong (?) it doesn't say the carbon floor will be $130 by April. It says there will be an agreement by April 1/
Where does it say $130 in April? it says they will by April agree on what the timeline and price increases are.
I would bet a very large sum of money it will not be $130 effective price in April.

The false hope of carbon capture and storage
Do we need carbon removal? Almost certainly, but not because we need to offset “hard-to-decarbonize” industries: we need it because we’ve already disrupted the climate to dangerous levels. Just ask an...
