In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

I’m not going to retweet that NOAA propaganda post about deep sea mining.

Instead, I’ll tell you that I don’t know a single NOAA scientist who would promote deep sea mining in this way, because the available science we have does not justify exploitation of deep sea habitats for minerals.

Russian state media openly says what I and others warned about, which Trump/Vance/Musk and fans—along with Jeffrey Sachs, Noam Chomsky, and their end of the horseshoe—get badly wrong:
Russia is after conquest, not peace. US weakening Ukraine encourages more Russian attacks, not Russian negotiations.
On Kremlin TV, Putin intimate Solov'yov says Russia so encouraged by Trump taking their side no longer see need for ceasefire.

"No, there won’t be any ceasefire. Our idea of peace is everything happening as we see fit”

Then plays a clip of Vance slamming Ukraine.

Vance is "our man" he says.

Ukrainians know that if a ceasefire has no viable enforcement mechanism and Kyiv stands alone against a militarist Russia, it will create a time-bomb for Ukraine’s future.
A rapid ceasefire in Ukraine could lead Donald Trump into a Russian trap
A ceasefire that leaves Ukraine unprotected would only provide a pause before a wider war. Washington and Kyiv must agree viable security guarantees before any negotiations with Putin begin.
