pretty sure he meant the other thing, grok, but very cool that those are your two things

Some asteroids were mined for minerals, methane or water, some served as truck stops for traffic between the outer and inner planets.

Some of those became destinations in their own right, like asteroid 52692. Covered in hydroponic tuber farms, it was the home of the famous Scalzi Space Potato.

I got a letter yesterday from Google saying, "We have unclaimed money in your name. If you don't claim it, it'll be remanded to the state and you'll have to claim it from them."

$76.27? Boy, if that amount didn't seem awfully familiar...

Very, very cool retrospective on one of my favorite games. (Free subscription required to read 90% of it, paid sub for the last 10%, not a faaaaan.)
A great retrospective on Mirror’s Edge. The best of times and the worst of times. Many thanks to Lewis for putting it together.
Our next big project is live! @lewisgordon.bsky.social spent the past few months tracking down nine people who worked on DICE's innovative 2008 parkour runner.

Oh, nothing, I just found out that there's now an actual minor planet with my name on it, and I am (literally!) over the moon about that fact:

A Minor Planet, a Major Thrill
Our solar system has eight major planets, nine if you believe that Pluto Was Wronged. It also has literally thousands of minor planets, which are also colloquially known as asteroids, many of which…

Why is it always a "t" that sneaks up on me in a word? It's happened before; of special mention is "arboretum", which I despise. (Arboreum looks and sounds nicer!)

Anyhow, it has happened again. Today I learned that it's not "musn't". It's "mustn't".

Mustn't.

Ohhhhh I hate how that looks so much.

Whatever succeeds ICE, it needs to be focused on customs enforcement only, primarily in airports and at ports. CBP’s “warrantless authority” 100-mile border should be revoked by Congress. CBP should only be allowed to operate within 1 mile of a border, past that it’s a sheriff’s problem.

Urban fantasy world building: While they share the same central post offices, small races like dwarves, halflings and gnomes are covered by separate mail routes. This accommodates mailboxes being closer to the ground for easier access by customers - as well as carriers who use shorter vehicles.

Deep in the forest, a forgotten temple ruin overgrown by moss is the final resting place of an old god.

A stone is heaved aside, sunlight warms ancient flagstones.

An offering is placed on the altar - salt, bread, oil.

A prayer is said: "If you can help, do so. If not, persist."

It is answered.
