And here’s a few tips of my own for non-artists who are new to writing comics. It’s a post on my *website.* Remember those? Kind of like a social media thread but not broken up into arbitrary little bits. Wild! www.stevelieber.com/tips-for-non...
Tips for Non-Artists on Writing Your First Comic
Learning to write prose is tough, and it can take years of struggle to grasp the basics. You have to understand construction, character, theme, pacing, the effects of word choice, the specifics of …

Also, in the aftermath of the HFBS situation, I asked Kathy Kennedy if LFL had ever turned in a finished movie script for greenlight to Disney and had it rejected. She said no, this was a first.

Apparently, one of those “average rates for comic pros” things is going around again, and they are… BAD.

At BEST, they highlight how underpaid the industry is.

At WORST, they embolden publishers to pay less.

The response to these things should be posting what the industry SHOULD be paying.

I know there are a million writers and artists who want to be able to speak publicly about this, but due to the power dynamic of the publisher in question cannot.

Jobs in comics are already hard to come by, let alone livable page rates, so if you can speak up, please do.

Imagine thinking Labor Day of all days -- as one of the highest editorial positions at a premiere publisher -- was the day to announce use of AI in art was "unavoidable" to your audience of primarily artists and other creatives.

Talk about completely disrespectful and out of touch.

That 38-day gap, and what happened around it, is one of the periods of comics history I most want to see written up in detail. It’s covered in STUF SAID, but without much detail, and it’s a hugely important part of Marvel/Kirby history.
Examining Marvel's publishing record there is a 38 day gap between July 25th and September 2nd where nothing was published. On Sept. 2nd three new science fiction titles were introduced and Sept. 2nd also happens to be the month where Jack Kirby's work began showing up in the science fiction titles.

I've been working on this one for a bit, and it was a real treat getting to tell the story of BONE's time in Disney Adventures magazine back in the 1990s, with insight from the key players involved in Jeff Smith, Marv Wolfman (!), @comixace.bsky.social (!!), and @cliffchiang.bsky.social (!!!).
Jeff Smith's BONE had a surprising home during the 1990s in Disney Adventures magazine. It was a banner moment for the comic and readers...but how did it happen?

This is the story of Bone's time in Disney Adventures, with insight from the key players involved.
