Been doing some light research on archival printers and got side tracked with riso printing. I saw riso prints EVERYWHERE at the last convention i attended, which was unexpected. I can't imagine the maintenance cost in one of those machines man.

I'll be honest, these benefit abled folks as well. I find searching Bluesky super helpful since the alt-texts are included so it pulls appropriate media.

LP on AI: I am big mad to hear that The Alters used it as filler text and translations. Y'all really couldn't hire some intern to write some nonsense for a background element? And you, Sandfall, is place holder imagery that important you couldn't use a black and white image of a duck??

Also finally finished assembling the last copies of the first printing of the riso version of The Maker of Grave-Goods. Figuring out how to bind graphic novels by hand sure was a…thing…I did this year…for better or worse haha.

Yep, at some point OpenAI and some of these other companies were research based first. It still wasn't great, but educational purposes is one thing, making money hand over the first to make the world a worse place is a whole other thing. Here's all the hopium that they get their comeuppance.
The crux of the argument by the creators and publishers in these lawsuits is that this is not fair use. That is the nature of the entire lawsuit.
Fair use occurred moreso when these companies were [masquerading] as educational not for profits. They shifted the same data to for profit ventures.
