I feel sympathy and anger that critical thinking is not being taught in the schools or in the home. This is intentional by the government but parents are abdicating their responsibility too.

Fun experience, not entirely unexpected, at the pharmacy for the first time after losing my job and health insurance. "It costs HOW MUCH? We won't be doing that one!" You can choose 2: meds, food, or pay utilities. Thank you best* healthcare in the free world.

*not really best

A synth instrumental from the vault. This is all #Moog One, played live as an improvisation with a couple overdubs afterwards. Imagine hanging out by the fire on Christmas eve, log cabin atmosphere, snow outside, magic in the air. soundcloud.com/bkbirge/moog...
MoogOneTest6.
Another sketch on the Moog One, no other instruments here. Has kind of a subdued Christmas Blues feel I like.

Consider the gift of cash if you're not sure what non-cash gift someone would enjoy. Apply this thinking to universal basic income too. You don't know for sure what someone else needs. Only they do. Trust them to buy what they need when able to.

If the Court keeps striking down campaign finance reform, what’s the point? Corporations can pour endless money into elections and call the shots. If we don’t stop it now, we’re heading toward a dystopia where corporations act like governments—and it’s closer than we think.

A country built on free labor will fight to the death for the inalienable right to enjoy free labor
In America it requires someone to work 80 hours per week at minimum wage to escape poverty. In France and the UK it’s 23 and 24 hours. In Japan, it’s 14 hours.
"Tying a dignified retirement to perpetual 7–10% S&P 500 returns, rather than it being a public good guaranteed to all people, is great for Wall Street and death to working class solidarity."

The failed Libertarian experiment of Texas
Terrifying!
Only two 911 operators taking 2 calls a minute couldn’t help these poor desperate people in Texas.
Nearly 600 calls were released this week from the catastrophic July 4 flash flooding that swamped Kerr County, TX, killing more than 130 people and turning a national holiday into a tragedy.

Callers were terrified and desperate, and some did not survive.

Artists: there’s no ethical way where you get every song ever made for $15.

Fans: you need to fix that.

Artists: we did, cancel Spotify and buy albums directly from us.

Fans: oh no no, we meant fix it in a way where we still pay $15 a month and get infinite music ethically.

You see the problem?

According to a new study, members of Congressional leadership perform 47% better in stock market trades than their rank-and-file peers, thanks to access to nonpublic information.

Today would be a great day to ban ALL elected officials from trading stock, don't you think?

As told by Aristotle, when a demagogue—wielding rhetorical tricks and inflammatory speech—begins to convince a populace in a democratic state to override its own laws and constitutional institutions in favor of unreasoned whims and trends, then that state is in danger of losing its democracy.
