*A movie made before 1978 contains a scene set at night*
Wow, this just looks great! It's like at some point filmmakers forgot how to light night scenes so they actually look like night? THIS is what it should look like!

Wow that looked like shit

I think retailers will eventually meld all the festivities into one. There will be a giant fuck off Christmas tree with a pumpkin on top, and Guy Fawkes crucified on it and people will throw Easter egg shaped firebombs at it and the fucker will burn from March to December.

Fireworks PIF countdown: PARENTS (1975). The blink-and-you'll-miss-them shots of the twitching, convulsing, burnt kid caused so many complaints that this PIF was banned. It was considered lost media until the BFI tracked down a copy in 2014!

The thing that makes me get the crinkly mouth about #Christmas advertising is how they still use snow to signify 'Christmas'. It almost never snows around that time, and recently, thanks to #GlobalHeating, the temperature is more often in double figures.

'Ringu' helped spur a new thread of more emotional/psychological horror and ghost story cinema. Definitely influenced by MR James, in particular 'Casting The Runes'.

Watched The Blackening last night for the first time... it was SO good.
I'm very much a comedy over horror girlie, so it was right up my alley.
It's not just your typical parody. Incredibly well done 🙂↕️

My thoughts entirely: the generation of TV professionals that revived #DoctorWho in 2005 are now part of the show's legacy. It's time for a new (re)generation, preferably not fundamentalist fans, but talented people with an understanding of genre TV, the show's nature but also its pitfalls.
it's gotta be time for a new generation to take it over. someone whose first Doctor was Eccleston would be such a breath of fresh air---you need a 21st Century Verity Lambert
