I recently found this January 8, 1929 dinner menu from Yosemite National Park's Ahwahnee Hotel while cataloging a family archiving covering about 150 years of history. This was just one of about two weeks' worth of Ahwahnee menus, most with different art.

Meanwhile, i’s jarring to realize all three of my books are “old” books by this list’s (and the publishing industry’s) metrics yet I still feel like I’m just starting my career as an author.
Good idea for a book list, but few nonfiction titles made the grade.

Wild that people were still out partying at midnight even as cops went up and down Sunset tear gassing and hitting people, and more disturbing that the cops were doing this just to people calmly standing in line.

Fires. The military occupation. The ongoing paramilitary occupation. Repeated attacks on peaceful demonstrations by local cops. Continued hardships as the studios don't do more production in the city. Los Angeles is struggling this year. This win means a lot.
Los Angeles suffered tremendously because of the wildfires. The president of the United States has wanted to make the immigrants who make the city suffer and declared war on the city. But all throughout it, L.A. makes it work daily. It’s a place where people go to make it. LA deserves this.
