Per-precinct final data are now available for King County, Washington's general election. In the race for Seattle mayor, Katie Wilson defeated incumbent Bruce Harrell by just under 2,000 votes.

I never really understood the power of UX until I had to cross a muddy spot of grass and discovered sidewalks exist -

Thank you for coming to my LinkedIn post.

The folks quoted here seem so dead set against any kind of change, the only thing that will force their hand would be a builder's remedy.

Progressives: Let's build more, so everyone can afford some.

Republicans: Let's make everything a bit shitty.
Exclusive: Republicans plan to challenge vehicle-safety mandates, such as automatic emergency braking and alarms that remind drivers a child is in the back seat.

46 US states: $130k household is rich

California, Washington, and New York 30+ miles outside of a city: $130k household is average

NYC, Seattle, DC, LA, OC, San Diego, all of Hawaii: $130k household is just scraping by

Bay Area: $130k income household qualifies for low-income housing (lol)
I’m not going to read more into the beef here, but it’s worth noting that a family of four making ~110k-130k qualifies for low-income housing in four counties in the Bay Area. Choosing not to build housing pushes everyone on the housing ladder deeper into rent burden and poverty.
just read some Substack post with a maybe quarter-baked argument that the "real" poverty line is $136,000. come on

Unclear which one is “Seattle Downtown” even

It's sad because we can do so much more but...A Seattle mayor who treats the mode share shift in the city's already-adopted Climate Change Response Framework with urgency—like a legally binding requirement—will be the most transformative mayor in Seattle history.

Was it young voter turnout? Trump backlash? Or was it voters sick of shit like this?
Welp, after years of planning, pots of dedicated funding, promises that despite other elements getting yanked from the plans that sidewalk repairs were still on the table, the only sidewalk on LWB that got repaved this year was the segment right in front of Bruce's house.

This is some good printer discourse.

And, as a reminder, if you only need to print a couple things a year you can often do that at your local library.

for days we got the "Showdown with Socialism" buildup only to get the payoff of Trump essentially saying "wow this socialist guy fuckin rules. I, on the other hand, am a fascist". what a country. what an era

this proves that Trump's information ecosystem is just as fucked as everyone else's.

a lot of his position probably comes from talking to sycophants on the right, and combative people on the left.

anyone trying to fill WA state legislature's docket with things to clear the way for congestion pricing?

I assume Wilson's people are on it for progressive revenue.
November 21, 2025 at 12:23 AM
sickos haha yes dot jpg to everything, but especially number 2
What’s in the plan? Well after Step 2 (sweep city council), Wilson lays out six policy ideas:
1) E-bike subsidies
2) Weight-based taxes, fees, and fines
3) Mandatory employer transit subsidies
4) Mandatory parking cash-out
5) (De-)congestion pricing
6) Free transit (“worth exploring”)
