I called my senators last night and left a message about a whole bunch of things. I’m in Florida so I have no illusion that anything will happen, but I do kind of hope that they keep track of constituents’ concerns. I guess that makes me naïve but, if I keep calling, I will be annoying, too.

To be honest, I prefer the type of authoritarianism where dissent is met with sloppily crafted social-media insults rather than imprisonment or execution.

I was in the vet's office a few years ago and I overheard the office calling to confirm appointments for Chaucer and Marlow. In my head, they were a golden retriever and a German Shepherd. Maybe they were two Yorkies, who knows? Respect to the fellow English major though.
