“My fundamental concern with regard to how much voting control I have at Tesla is, if I go ahead and build this enormous robot army, can I just be ousted at some point in the future?... I don't feel comfortable building that robot army unless I have a strong influence.” – Musk, arguing for $1T

This chart—using data from Catalist, in this article by @scottanderson.bsky.social—is a Rosetta Stone for how the presidential map changes over the next decade. We've got to turn WI MI PA blue before 2032—because at that point, they won't be enough to get to 270.

Haters say Trump loved nothing other than himself. That's not fair. He clearly also loves extrajudicial killing

Wisconsin’s 2026 Governor’s Race is wildly important. I won’t be running. But I’ll do my utmost to make sure a great Democrat wins, and I hope you will, too. 🧵

Trump is the biggest union-buster in American history. This Labor Day, recommit to fighting back.

Yesterday, we learned that Elon Musk spent $55 million to defeat her.

Today, we cheered as Judge Susan Crawford took her oath—and became Justice Susan Crawford.

Congratulations!

A little like when Trump wanted to just stop testing for Covid because there was too much Covid and so he wanted to just suppress the numbers.

Governor Evers just announced that he won’t be seeking a third term in 2026. Wisconsin owes him a profound debt of gratitude—one of the kindest, most decent, and most public-spirited people I've ever met, in or out of politics. 🧵

Bondi reportedly put 1,000 people in 24-hour shifts for two weeks in March to review the Epstein files. She made them flag mentions of Trump.

And then ...

She decided she couldn't release anything. 😯
Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Dan Bongino have made a mess of the Epstein files.

It’s time to clear it up once and for all for the American people.

And so we’re going to make Coca Cola with beautiful cane sugar. Beautiful healthy cane sugar. But I have also noticed lately that 2 liter bottles of coke don’t seem to be that fizzy anymore. It’s not that fizzy anymore and frankly it’s not good. It’s not good and it tastes better from the fountain

Philadelphia Cream cheese. We love it on a bagel. Some people call it smear but I call it cream cheese. And the whipped style is delicious but it’s too light. It’s too light and you pick up the tub and you think it’s empty but it’s half full. Ridiculous. We’re gonna make the containers heavier

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Super-quick take while reading the ruling:

This is going to be a much bigger deal for challenges to *other* Trump policies than to birthright citizenship (where it's likely that lower courts will still be able to block the policy on a nationwide basis even after this ruling).

*That's* the import.
First #SCOTUS ruling today is birthright citizenship.

Justice Barrett, for a 6-3 majority (with the three Dem. appointees dissenting) holds that universal injunctions are only appropriate when necessary to provide "complete" relief to parties, and stays these injunctions insofar as they go further:

Last week the Federal Reserve downgraded its projections for the U.S. economy, citing lower growth, higher unemployment, and increasing inflation.

Americans can now add lower wages to the misery index.

Next up for Republicans, tax cuts for billionaires.
In May, personal income dropped by 0.4%, the first month-over-month decline in almost 4 years.
