Ahmed al Ahmed, a Lebanese Muslim who owns a Sydney fruit shop, risked his life to disarm one of the Bondi Beach shooters.

His courage gives me hope amidst the horror and darkness. Muslims and Jews are not enemies. Our futures, in the Middle East and beyond, are intrinsically bound.

A true hero.

With the latest mass shooting at Brown University, this might be a good time to mention that Bill Clinton’s assault weapons ban reduced mass shooting deaths by 43% - but after George W Bush & Republicans let it expire, mass shooting deaths spiked by 239%.

Dangerous flooding in the home area. It’s not unusual, but it’s always worrisome to see farmland and recreation areas overwhelmed by water. Stay safe, north sound! You’re in my heart.

If anyone in Seattle-ish needs to clean out their closet this December, I have a friend looking to go to their first trans clothing swap. They have nothing to swap.

DM me, I can help get the clothes where they need to go.

I was asked yesterday if I thought that English might benefit from a governing academy, like French, and noted that a language that, to date, supports dreamed and dreamt, dove and dived, and pleaded and pled, is not a language you can govern.

(And I wouldn't want to.)

Ossoff: "This is so much deeper than the politics. What does it say about the moral condition of this Congress that the thing that has them all tied up in knots is a very simple question: Should people's health insurance premiums go up double or triple? This is a policy choice."

There is not enough outrage in my soul at the lack of interest and coverage of the absolutely horrific and brutal civil war happening in Sudan.

If you are horrified by the events in Gaza in the past two years, this is many times worse.
