A three-post thread collecting all of my specific and random predictions about the SEC this season
This is the key part. Writing a first draft on a phone is not the problem. Declining to edit a stream-of-consciousness first draft that you wrote on a phone is
When your first draft is also your last draft is where the problem begins.

I'm going to say it: Having National Signing Day (even "early" NSD) in early December is stupid

Hanson after their voices changed?

So losing a championship game doesn't matter, per last year, but not playing at all can matter?
CFP chair Hunter Yurachek, asked if a team outside of the current projected 12-team bracket can get into the field without playing this weekend: "Yes."

2011: A REMATCH FOR THE NATIONAL TITLE MEANS WE MUST HAVE A PLAYOFF

2025: THE PLAYOFF COULD FEATURE AS MANY AS FOUR REMATCHES

My team being terrible does not make your team better

LSU is going to pay Lane Kiffin if Ole Miss wins in the playoffs, even though he is not coaching them anymore. They are paying him for their rival winning. That's one of the weakest things I've ever heard www.nytimes.com/athletic/685...

As all conferences should
The American names a deep snapper of the year in their end of season awards.

Ok, they got a decent coach. I stand potentially corrected
Kentucky has officially named Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein as its new head football coach.

Imagine paying Lane Kiffin $91 million to have the first threepeat in Reliaquest Bowl history

The lack of self-awareness has always been off the charts with this one, but this has to be a new personal best
Lane Kiffin: “We tried every thing possible to try to coach that team through the Playoff.”

Consider this your reminder that South Carolina and Missouri (twice) have been to the SEC Championship Game more recently than Tennessee

Josh Heupel, I was not familiar with your shade game.

Not where I would have gone if my team hadn't been in the conference championship game in 18 years, but a strong quote
This is an insane quote, I love college football

What you have in college football right now is the product of doing everything that got called "reform" or "player empowerment" (not inherently bad goals!) without considering how all the changes you were making would operate when you put them together

Miami, playing Notre Dame at home 11 games ago, won by about the average homefield advantage. This is clearly the most important thing we learned from three months' worth of data
I stepped into the ND-Miami debate for the final time because I like to be yelled at.

ND and Miami are close by every metric, including the specific ones the CFP uses. Miami won the game. That has to be the most important thing or what's the point of all of this?

Man, his receivers really need to improve
Aaron Rodgers under pressure, last 3 games:

BUF: 0/4 for 0 yds

CIN: 1/3 for 5 yds

LAC: 0/5 for 0 yds

Prediction: Kentucky is going to end up with some mid-level MAC or Sun Belt coach or a retread, and all of their fans are going to be mad, and it will all be because they fired Stoops this year, which a lot of their fans wanted
December 1, 2025 at 4:24 AM
I, in fact, will coach your team for $2m/yr with a reasonable buyout of say half the remaining salary in the deal. It's a bargain, really
Pretty soon colleges are going to recruit the commentariat because a young person has been lurking here and they will say, ‘they know ball.’ We know ball but imagine having the commentariat as your staff.

Generally, buyouts are not paid out of the university's academic funds. So no, universities could not lower tuition by avoiding buyouts and, no, it wouldn't fund howmanyever professors. There's a discussion to be had about whether it's a wise societal use of money. But don't make bad-faith arguments
December 1, 2025 at 4:05 AM
OK. Hope you guys know what you're doing. I mean, kind of not, because you're now a rival. But this is not what I would do
BREAKING: Kentucky is firing Mark Stoops, the winningest coach in school history. His contract calls for a $36 million buyout, all of which is due within 60 days. Reporting with @chrisvannini.com: www.nytimes.com/athletic/685...

The Wildcats had a great run under a portion of Stoops' tenure but have looked dreadful recently.
