This is the worst case scenario that everybody was worried about
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

Other public institutions should learn from libraries about ways to harden themselves against fascism without becoming politically partisan. For example, by not retaining records that aren't safe to retain.
Officials in Tennessee aren't just banning books, they're now demanding information on who checked out contested (largely LGBTQ+) books, including names, addresses, and "household composition."

A librarian who was given the directive has come forward asking for whistleblower protections.
Tennessee whistleblower says library board chair sought private data as part of state's book purge
A First Amendment expert told The Advocate that there are "huge" legal implications stemming from the situation.

“The New York Times contacted Ms. Farmer about a report stamped with the date of Sept. 3, 1996. She broke down in tears.

“I’ve waited 30 years,” she said. “I can’t believe it. They can’t call me a liar anymore.”
HUGE NEWS from the new Epstein files:

Records show that Maria Farmer, who worked for Epstein, filed a "child pornography" report to the FBI in 1996.

The FBI has never before acknowledged that complaint. The case went nowhere, and mass abuse followed.

I don't care if they can't succeed. They have to try and thank fk they're starting to figure that out. They have to try or nobody will follow them anywhere or risk anything for them.
Breaking:

Rep. Ro Khanna says the Trump DOJ's production "does not comply with" the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Khanna says he and Rep. Thomas Massie "are exploring all options" — including impeachment of DOJ officials, inherent contempt, or referring individuals for obstruction of justice.

The president has no business declaring that only supporters of his political beliefs can visit the United States. A Democrat who barred conservatives (or even full-blown Nazis!) from entry would be met with endless screams of anger and accusations of despotism. We can't keep playing this game.

If we cannot manage some drastic overhaul of our justice system that results in meaningful penalties when government agencies break the law, neither this government nor its constitution will survive.
Sen. Ron Wyden on the Trump DOJ not producing all of the Epstein files, as required by law:

"Anything short of a full release today is a violation of the law and a continuation of this administration’s coverup on behalf of a bunch of pedophiles and sex traffickers."

Hard not to wonder if the purging of so many agents, the transfer of so many resources to immigrant-hunting and Kash Patel's universally panned leadership might have dulled the FBI's edge as regards performing its actual job.
