Block has started informing employees that they may be affected by layoffs that will cut up to 10% of its 11,000 employees after performance reviews are completed.

We’re now entering the 4th year of mass layoffs in tech and if anything it seems to be accelerating not slowing down. 😕

Given the current trajectory, a job in the tech industry may eventually require the use of generative AI tools, no different than being forced to learn and use a computer, email, or coffee maker if it's determined to maximize profits.

Unfortunately, quality takes a back seat to profit.

Here's the thing: As a young boy, at some point you find out that the world hates "weak, but kind" much, much more than it hates "capable, but evil," because it figures the second one can be reformed into something useful to society.

My toxic trait is any time a shared URL has a tracking ID I change it

For example, youtube videos using the share button will have ?si=$ID appended to the URL

Whenever I share those links the $ID is either truncated, gibberish, or maybe I replace it with "lolfart" just to mess with the metrics
