This seems like a good time to share a little about my experiences on the DC grand jury and maybe convince some of you that the grand jury is a tool that we may be able to use right to now to help some of our neighbors.

New from me:
Elite law firms, multiple media outlets, the D.C. attorney general, and a group of parents accused a teacher of molesting 15 kids. They were wrong.
This piece is two-and-a-half years in the making. And as you'll see, it took some incredible turns, even as I was reporting it.

Accusing Jordan Silverman
A D.C. teaching assistant was accused of molesting up to 15 kids. Multiple law enforcement agencies cleared him. But his nightmare was just beginning.

the imaginary of the entire managerial class is that everything of worth comes from ‘ideas’ when in fact it comes from *doing things*
It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...

I agree that tomorrow is low risk, but the no burner phone necessary is not the best advice for everyone. Think about your risk factors AND those of the ppl you know. 1 of 4
Go ahead and go to a No Kings protest.
Take and post selfies, it's fine.
Don't photograph anyone else's face without their permission.
You don't need a burner phone.
But turn off FaceID and touchID on your phone.
Write your lawyer's phone number on your calf with a sharpie.

There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.
Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.

This is an incredible headline since, when I was in Miami in the 90s, LGBTQIA+ were being driven from South Beach by club raids and moving into Wynwood and displacing previous residents.
Miami’s Wynwood loses its queer heart to gentrification, Kat Grimmett reports. As developers reshape Miami’s art district, LGBTQIA+ venues are vanishing, leaving a community of 190,000 people with few places to gather.

Nobody should ever be in a situation where they don't have the resources and support they need. Safe haven laws will not fix that. But neither will criminalizing ppl who feel they've run out of options.
In Maryland, a law that was meant to keep birthing people and newborns safe has now been used to create the ultimate parent trap.
The Safe Haven Law promised protection – but Baltimore’s family police punished a mama anyway. 🧵
