"...I will live nowhere at all, where [...] She has gathered my last few fragments to caress and console and restore [...] and she promises me that sometimes, [...] she will show me the world again."
I regret to inform you all that the two sweet ratlings in this photo have since passed away. Pudding (the reddish-yellow one) died in August, and Fudge (the brown one) died today. Rest in peace little ones.
Eepy day at the Gerbil Hut

Well, this is timely! New evidence presented ahead of the 50th anniversary of the disaster prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in heavy seas because the captain drove it under the water instead of on top. "I guess he was trying something new," say researchers.

Went out for dinner with my parents and a family friend, and the very first topic of discussion was how frightened they were (in rural Wisconsin) that Mamdani won in NYC. All sorts of talk about how "the youngsters don't remember the concentration camps and 9/11" and blah blah.

If any New Yorkers fleeing the Mamdani Mandate want to trade places with me, I assure you the rural forests of northern Wisconsin are nice as long as you don't care about infrastructure, community, or the economy

Fresh out of college in early-mid 2020, with the mobilization against COVID and then the George Floyd uprisings, was the most hopeful I had ever been that good things were possible, only for all of that possibility to be resolutely vaporized and memory-holed seemingly permanently...

This guy may have the widest gulf between “would like to read his dissertation” and “would trust him with a loaded firearm at a shopping mall” of anyone since the Unabomber.

Voices of the Void update is reigniting my desire to work alone in an isolated probably haunted location with nothing but my computer, some books, and a series of easy but tedious tasks. Any opportunities in the mountains dm me.

Genuinely asking for a job to simply fall out of the sky and hit me on the head and brain damage me enough to make me work it

Just got jettisoned from my last social connection in real life because I confided in them about my mental health 💫

I desperately want to be either a poster or a reply guy but I simply can't summon the moxie or intransigence to be either. I am forever condemned to be a lurker.

Currently wrestling with the idea that I am so scatterbrained as to be incapable of basic data entry and will be forever unemployable

I need a fusion of like Dungeon Meshi and Frieren that's just people doing semi-realistic fantasy archeological/historical research traveling around in a magic yurt

I'd like to formally apologize to the 50 year olds I referred to as boomers in my posted-video from a week and a half ago.

That being said, there are serious ongoing problems with Gen X

You don't have to care about the Founders. We should have as little reverence for them as they themselves had for all the hallowed things they left behind. Less actually, because they are dead. We are here. They are not. What kind of America do we, the living, want to have?

intersubjectivity/interdependence as the literal basic condition for life itself and for the maintenance of institutions, and reactionary death driven masculine nihilism aims to destroy life itself because even the vaguest hint of social indebtedness feels like ego death
this is where the analogy to Brexit is really useful. A similar attitude that the US is completely self-sufficient and needs nothing from anyone. Too bad a lot of innocent people are gonna find out the hard way that this isn’t true.
There are going to be, I believe, a cascade of economic issues this summer related to the tourist industry. Fewer people will come here to travel. Fewer people will come here to work within the industry.

I like Avowed I think it's good. Gun Mage with a pistol in one hand and a grimoire in another is an innovation the genre will take generations to recover from.

Imagine telling somebody in 2000 that not only would Age of Empires 2 still be getting new expansions (well, DLC) in 2025, but would also be ported to the fucking 5th generation of PlayStation or whatever we're on

Once they start slashing VA and Social Security benefits, I wonder if all the veterans and elderly will just blame it on the Dems? My hope is that it would shake some out of their fugue but I have a feeling they'll just get even angrier at the wrong people because of how Fox and Trump spin it.

gonna be real here, a policy platform that simultaneously involves

- yanking employment / health care / food stamps from thousands at random
- a move to restrict psychiatric medicine
- minimizing friction when purchasing firearms

is a curious combination!

I was an observer of a discussion on whether #conspiracytheory is more prevalent on the political left or right recently, and a strong assertion was made that it is to be found equally at both ends of the conventional political spectrum. So I decided to look into it... 1/n
