Why have pie-perverts decided it is acceptable to air their grievances tonight? Is everyone with more than 1K followers a weird paid skeeter covering up a scandal? Did trump die 4 hours ago but Miller payed the skeeters to distract us by claiming pecan pie is bad?
is @brendelbored.bsky.social an op?

I dunno what is causing the general concept of pie to be discourse tonight but I would like to remind everyone that you swap peanuts into a pecan pie recipe and it is delightful

each moon presumable has a were-effect, which could combine creating not just three different kinds of werewolves but a truly lovecraftian werewerewerewolf

My public service announcement for today is that America’s Test Kitchen, which is infinitely better then NYTimes Cooking, has introduced a new gift link option that has no limit on how many you can share and each link lasts 30 days.

about ~92-93 we settled on pork baby back ribs for christmas, this was kept up to at least ~2011.

Since living alone (~8 years) I have settled on tamales for thanksgiving and bourbon for christmas.
it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).

I come from a Christmas prime rib roast family, myself.
I also use the bacon method. Although turkey is Christmas dinner where I come from.

All I'm gonna say is: if I said anything more specific than this vague sentence I would be run off the internet.
Bitch what the fuck?!

ALSO: Americans eat turkey all the damn time. Every good bbq joint does smoked turkey, turkey legs are a classic Event food, every deli and sandwich shop does half a dozen turkey sandwiches, your nearest diner does an open face turkey with gravy. Ground turkey and turkey bacon are in every store.

Freshman year of highschool I took two math classes instead of one and then I had depression in my 20s
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Everything about this and Amanda's related thread is real/great but I also am constantly yelling about how none of this was "tradition" until like 2001. Ugly sweaters were a joke at our grandparents' expense not a competition. Lights were a thing that we made fun of in movies.
I’m going to talk about what it’s like to grow up Jewish in America, but not the way you’ve probably heard. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I had an incredibly special childhood as an American Jewish kid. I grew up in Beverly Hills, surrounded by other Jewish kids.
Someone come slap the phone out of my hand before I writes thread about why I hate Ugly “Holiday” Sweater parties

Crichton, Clancy, King, Grisham. The kings of airport novels that kids read a little too young.

In response to the absolutely depressing statistics of American Blood Exports ( archive.ph/KOgdy ) I have absolutely zero qualms about eating Vitalant out of house and home.

Honestly I'm more of a Grandma's Oatmeal Raisin guy but I'm aware that no one wants to admit to loving raisins.
Also: all the rice crispy treats you can eat.

(I do double red so I can't donate until late december)
Over the holidays, chronically ill patients still need blood products just like usual, and also there tend to be more accidents than usual. And fewer people donate blood products around the holidays. Many blood banks are offering extra perks for donating next week, if you can.

New Mexico stays winning

(additional alt text: New Mexico is not a state with increased search interest in felching)

is there a #dogsky ? Caroline Wheeler's Birthday Present sleeps like an angel when it's dark but as soon as it gets light she remembers she has more energy than enriched uranium but doesn't know what to do with it.

We also collectively refuse it because to name it as grift and power would compel enforcement but either we know enforcement won't happen or we know enforcement will cause bystanders pain.
Someone is going to have the write the thing about how “vibe” has become a substitute for meaningful theory in a world where the theory is so clear — grift and power — but we collectively refuse if because it isn’t sophisticated enough to generate make work for empiricists.

The boss passed by me this afternoon and said
"good news: we're gonna stop carrying bicycles. You won't have to build them anymore."

I like building bikes (which I said) but also while this is probably driven by high shrink and tariffs. It also feels like part of the ongoing attempt at deskilling.
