This is apparently a famous meme but I saw it for the first time today and nearly shat my whole ass from laughing. Good thing I wasn't on Cardassia. "Ass shitting's a mandatory execution on Cardassia" (this line killed me.)

Hogfather-

The omnipotent eyesight of various supernatural entities is often remarked upon. It is said that they can see the fall of every sparrow.

And this may be true. But there is only one who is always there when it meets the ground.
Falling a bit behind with travel and giving and grading final exams, but I'm back in Hogfather-

Governments govern, but prime ministers and presidents do not personally turn up in people's homes to tell them how to run their lives, because of the mortal danger this would present.
Getting an education was a bit like a communicable sexual disease. It made you unsuitable for a lot of jobs and then you had the urge to pass it on.

Besides, it was nice to hear the voices of children at play, provided you took care to be far enough away not to hear what they are actually saying.

Epstein redactions aren't believable, and they are valuable to fascists specifically because they aren't believable.

Fascists prefer lies to truth. Believing in a lie is preferable to believing a truth, if what you want is to dominate.

Believing lies dominates truth. So they believe lies.

Good morning, Blue Sky!

"Whoever we are
Wherever we're from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
It's gonna take a lot more
Than tryin' to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether"

Happy Birthday, Frank Zappa!

it is almost Christmas which means it’s Muppet Christmas Carol season and that, in turn, means it is time to revisit this delightful interview with Michael Caine, who loves everything about that movie even more than you do

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

The children refused to disbelieve in the monsters because frankly, they knew damn well the things were there.

But she found that they could, very firmly, also believe in the poker.
