I’ve come to the stunning conclusion that I spend too much time online. I’ve begun recognising my screen name as the same as my real name. I just had to doublecheck that I hadn’t been addressed by my real name in a stream chat. O.o

📢 Hey guys, our good friends Jules and Ori are trying to get a sewing machine in order to help trans people in their community get custom binders, and are raising funds on their throne. If you're able to help or spread the word while Jules is live, that'd be appreciated!

"Our standing rule is: If one of us brings up using GenAI in any of our work, then it's safe to assume we've been assimilated by The Thing and should be burned alive by Kurt Russell," said a game design consultant in the US.
Over 50% of game developers now think generative AI is bad for the industry, a dramatic increase from just 2 years ago: 'I'd rather quit the industry than use generative AI'
The latest GDC survey also found that managers are more likely to use generative AI than their employees.

Introduce yourself with what almost killed you:
Hi, I am medicine, a flatbed rail car, an apple, my own digestive juices, aerosolised irritants, sleeping, a swimming pool, a volleyball sand court, an ear infection, milk.
Yes, two of those match others' entries.
No one limited it to "one thing".

If you see this, post a random fact about yourself.

The most obscure language in which I know *any* words is Ainu. I can consistently remember three words: aca (father), kamuy (spirit), osoma (faeces - not necessarily so polite); I occasionally forget retar (white).
If you see this, post a random fact about yourself

When I was more active as an actor I won multiple awards at the college and community theater levels.

I've taken letterpress classes, and I'm working to get my own (very small) press when I can!

Sensationalist Title: new computer crashes from USB video capture card. Got a Raspberry Pi 5 for Christmas. Got it all set up today (had to reflash the EEPROM because why not?). Plugged in the USB video capture card, activated it, got like five seconds of streaming and the computer crashed. Not 🧵1/?

There seems to have been an influx of new Bluesky users, so here’s this little thing. I’m on an unplanned hiatus from streaming (mental health, schedules, and now, moving), but I’m looking forward to getting back on your screens.

but if people are telling you something is illegible or inaudible, remember that at the end of the day you aren't the one doing the watching, and believe them

Time for panic to REALLY set in. Since about mid-October, we've been looking for a new house; really started mid-November when my partner started their new job back on the East Coast. A few days ago, we made an offer on a house. Queue inevitable back and forth. They accepted the offer tonight. 🧵1/?

We have DVDs, CDs, physical audiobooks, and some libraries even have video games! 😳

On top of that, there are digital media apps/sites like Libby and Hoopla for ebooks, audiobooks, TV, movies, and the latest music!!!

For free with your library card!!!!!
“As prices for streaming subscriptions continue to soar and finding movies to watch, new and old, is becoming harder as the number of streaming services continues to grow, people are turning to the unexpected last stronghold of physical media: the public library.”

Online age verification is a tempting idea. I'm a dad, I get it, but what's being proposed isn't just an ID check, it's a list of your kid's faces and data. A list in the hands of increasingly totalitarian governments, tech companies, and dysfunctional AI.

It's not protection, it's surveillance.
🚨 EVERYONE PLEASE RESKEET THIS FOR VISIBILITY!!! 🚨

A big coalition of LGBTQ+, abortion access, and human rights groups led by @fightforthefuture.org are organizing a WEEK OF ACTION this week against online ID checks, aka "age verification" laws.

I lost a friend one year because he volunteered to help them and I gave him a heads up about their history.

Charity is great, but research the charity.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.
