Tarantino calling Dano's depiction of Eli as "weak sauce" is Tarantino telling us he didn't understand the movie without telling us he didn't understand the movie.

If Plainview was up against an intense Joaquin Phoenix preacher, he wouldn't despise the man so intensely.
Quentin Tarantino says 'There Will Be Blood' had a chance to be his greatest film of the 21st century if it didnt have Paul Dano in it

"it’s supposed to be a two-hander, but ... [Dano] is weak sauce, man ... He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy. The weakest fucking actor in SAG [laughs]"

I like this thought. Get weird again. Summon the ghosts of Joyce & Beckett. Have a new beat generation, writing against the new culture of conformity.

Out-create the machine & its rotting users with your real, broken, beautiful humanity. Get working on the new Naked Lunch, Desolation Angels, Howl.
I think it would be fun if writers who love language started intentionally writing more strangely as AI flattens written "content" into a mono-voice. it would cool I think if writers responded by focusing their individual efforts on cultivating a really unique voice that's hard to copy

Let this woman's action be the beginning of a movement.

Smash the surveillance machine one idiot's device at a time if necessary.
Really love how this guy posted this on TikTok thinking the woman who broke his Meta glasses would come off as the villain, as opposed to him, the guy recording her without her consent for social media content via a surveillance device made by one of the worst companies on earth
Woman Hailed as Hero for Smashing Man's Meta Smart Glasses on Subway
A New York subway rider has accused a woman of breaking his Meta smart glasses. She was later hailed as a hero.

How To Ditch Spotify and Support Music in the Age of AI Slop
There’s no shortage of reasons to quit Spotify in 2025. Artists and fans have been departing the platform in droves because they’re fed up with the company paying artists virtually nothing, using algo...

Online age verification is a tempting idea. I'm a dad, I get it, but what's being proposed isn't just an ID check, it's a list of your kid's faces and data. A list in the hands of increasingly totalitarian governments, tech companies, and dysfunctional AI.

It's not protection, it's surveillance.
🚨 EVERYONE PLEASE RESKEET THIS FOR VISIBILITY!!! 🚨

A big coalition of LGBTQ+, abortion access, and human rights groups led by @fightforthefuture.org are organizing a WEEK OF ACTION this week against online ID checks, aka "age verification" laws.

I grew up working class. I remember drawing with short pencils my mum stole from work.

When I fell for film there were no video phones & 8mm/VHS was too expensive.

So I couldn't make films as a kid.

If I had a camcorder I would have made movies. If I had AI I would not have made movies. It would.
All AI music does is devalue the work done by human artists. It’s not accessibility, it’s exploitation. We need real protections for artists against AI!

BTW — even if you had access to this AI startup as a child, you still wouldn’t know how to make music.
