Wrote a thread about when worked at Amazon in proximity to Bezos when he was transitioning from a little dork with issues and money to the disconnected unquestioned tyrant brand he became. You're right, so much of it was yes men and inoculating himself from hearing from normal people

In 2006-7 I worked for Jeff Bezos. I only interacted with him in bi-weekly meetings, and this is over 15 years ago now, so he's only gotten more like this, but trust me when I tell you: Jeff Bezos isn't a person. Technically he is human, but that's as far as goes. He is a brand. 🧵

I think one of my problems is that my inability to make visual art when literally everyone I'm close to is either a visual artist or a frequent commissioner of artists and so I just feel like some kind of leech unable to contribute to the ecosystem

it was a meaningless costume, just some cheap random bullshit, and it's more powerful than they are. the frog doesn't need to be a symbol. let alone something people are scrambling to purchase from Amazon so they can own one
