i will put this simply and briefly. Furries are a fandom. therians and otherkin are groups with actual, ingrained, nonhuman identities. furries do what they do for fun. therians do it because it more closely aligns with our sense of self. it's not hard if you're not being a disingenuous asshole.

I'm pretty sure that's where my wolf theriotype originally came from. Makes sense because it didn't truly present itself until a particular time in my life when all that rage from being a pushover boiled to the surface. It didn't help that people who were supposed to be my friends abused me for fun.
Softening a bestial /monster in order to accept a part of themself they deem monstrous? I feel like parts of myself I hate are because I'm too much of a pushover and too soft so I instead wish to embrace the most violent beast in hopes it'll escape that insecure invisible brick wall in myself. 🤔
